Lors de la période de transition où Drew McDowall pris de plus en plus la place de meneur, Coil a pris un tournant assez drastique: l'inconnu métaphysique. Le groupe a choisi de filtrer son identité au travers d'un nom de guerre: Black Light District. Enregistré en 1995/1996 reflète ce format avant garde et poursuit leurs experiences industrielles, et un hommage à John Cage. Ils restent imprévisibles.
