"One of the marvels of the much-loved Irish singer is his ability to find overlooked songs and make them his own. Most of the 13 here are from fellow countrymen, including the mesmerising title track that captures the Arctic stillness, and "Gortatagort", a paean to Eire roots. The tone throughout is gentle and earnest, Moore's purring brogue only occasionally breaking into jollity, his "Ballad of Ruby Walsh" a case in point. The star turn is an acoustic version of "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" that turns Pink Floyd's epic 1975 lament for their fallen leader, Syd Barrett, into a piece of gentle, compassionate mourning."
