Gregory Huwett est né à Anvers, luthiste, il a travaillé en Basse-Saxe aux côtés de John Dowland. Georg Schimmelpfennig passa sa vie professionnelle à Kassel en tant que chanteur, luthiste et compositeur. Il fut un disciple de Heinrich Schütz. Michelangelo Galilei, neveu de l'astronome Galilée travailla à la cour de Maximilien Ier à Munich. Le luthiste polonais Wojciech Dlugoraj s'installa en Allemagne où il compila le recueil de pièces pour luth qui porte son nom.
