Douzième album pour le duo de Dan Auerbach et Patrick Carney. Comme à l'accoutumée, les collaborations tiennent une place importante, tant dans la production que dans les intervenants. Beck apporte sa touche particulière sur la moitié des morceaux, et sur même sur d'autres auxquels il ne participe pas. D'autres, comme Dan the Automator, Greg Cartwright ou Noel Gallagher contribuent à détourner l'album des pistes trop évidentes ou trop attendues, et à le rendre inclassable autrement que comme un disque des Black Keys.
