"Indie rock is moving so quickly that one trend has barely caught hold before another comes along. Toronto teenies Born Ruffians illustrate the point. One minute their jerky guitars and yelped vocals are nailing the punky-funky sound that made the Rapture's name a couple of years ago, the next they're copping high-life guitars like a new Vampire Weekend. The result is an album with as much depth as a teenager's attention span. Songs burst into life with a promising guitar motif, then shoot off somewhere else entirely.
