"Lalo Schifrin's dark score for the Sudden Impact -- the forth film in the Dirty Harry series -- and a surprising gem from the early 80s! The sound here isn't as archetypal 70s funk as the previous installments, but it's still Schifrin at his best -- a mix of fuller orchestrations and more stripped-down instrumentation -- often served up with a nice undercurrent of tension and a few odd twists and turns! The styles are more 80s than 70s, but still have a lot more warmth than most of Lalo's soundtrack contemporaries -- and with Schifrin conducting the players for the date, you can bet that the maestro's still got a good deal of control over his sound."
