The Heavenly Gospel Singers were the progenitors of an East Coast gospel quartet lineage which included such eminent progeny as THe Dixie Hummingbirds and Sensational Nightingales. The singing style which The Heavenly Gospel Singers carried into the Piedmond was a conglomeration of various trends and influences.
