Vocal quartet recorded July, 1974 in Orgosolo, Sardinia. "Gruppo Rubanu is one of the few vocal quartets who sings in the unique Sardinian tradition "su tenore". "Su tenore" has been defined by Alan Lomax as a prehistoric way of singing, whose basic harmonies and voice textures are outstanding in the Mediterranean area. Comparable examples of vocal harmonies can be found only in certain areas of Africa.".
