Un an après son troisième EP remarqué « The Boy Who Cried Freedom » en 2017, le britannique d'origine nigérienne Jacob Banks sort son premier album « The Village ». Le jeune artiste à la voix rugueuse et puissante nous offre quatorze morceaux Soul dynamiques et charismatiques mêlés d'influences Blues, Gospel, Hip-Hop, R&B, électro, africaines ou jamaïcaines. Côté invités, on retrouve trois featurings vocaux : B bi Boureley (« Kumbaya »), Nana (« Grown Up ») et Seinabo Sey (« Be Good To Me »). À la production, on découvre des pointures comme Malay (Sam Smith, Franck Ocean), Paul Epworth (Adèle) et Stint (Sabrina Claudia). Un ensemble envoûtant à découvrir ! (CL)
