La multi-instrumentiste et chanteuse Meshell Ndegeocello présente son douzième album « Ventriloquism », enregistré avec son ami batteur Abe Rounds en Californie. Dans cet opus, notre artiste reprend onze reprises célèbres (« Smooth Operator», « Waterfalls » ou « Sometimes It Snows In April », ...) dont de nombreuses chansons d'amour datant des années 1980 et 1990. Les titres empruntés notamment à Sade, TLC, Tina Turner, Janet Jackson et Prince sont revisités ou réécrits sur une musique atmosphérique en clair-obscur naviguant entre pop psychédélique, Folk et Neo-Soul. La jeune femme nous fait presque oublier les originaux ! (CL)
