« Washington Phillips And His Manzarene Dreams" est une compilation qui rend hommage au chanteur, pasteur et musicien de Gospel Blues Washington Phillips. L'opus contient seize pépites de Southern Gospel enregistrées à Dallas entre 1927 et 1929 pour Columbia Records. Les morceaux joués avec un Celestaphone d'une main et un Phonoharp de l'autre offrent un son inhabituel et surréaliste. (CL)
