Deuxième signature chez Matador pour le chanteur-multi instrumentiste Will Toledo (AKA Car Seat Headrest), TEENS OF DENIAL est un condensé de Power-pop et d'indie rock de bon goût à l'efficacité redoutable. Malgré des références évidentes (on pense par moments à Weezer ("Destroyed By Hippie Powers"), à Beck ("Drugs With Friends..." ) ou encore à Franz Ferdinand ("Vincent")), Toledo y fait déjà preuve (à 23 ans seulement) d'une maturité certaine en temps que compositeur et arrangeur, ne le perdons donc pas de vue.
